It charted at #2 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in and was the first track on his second album, Megatron Man, issued the same year. Notes. Per the bonus material in The Return of Mister X (), the man pictured in the art is comic book character Mister X.

Cowley created his own brand of peak-time party music known as Hi-NRG, also dubbed “The San Francisco Sound.” By Patrick had released a string of his own dance 12″ singles, such as “Menergy” and “Megatron Man”. That year, he co-founded Megatone Records to release his debut album 'Megatron Man'.

  4. It's about half good stuff and half generic, album-padding grooves—Patrick Cowley's equally gloriously dated first LP, Megatron Man, is better—but a copy on used vinyl is a worthy $4 purchase for the fan of vintage synth-pop. Cowley's last album. He'd die of AIDS the same year this came out.

  5. Megatron Man is an album of archetypical early s disco. The title track has lovely synth lines and vocoder vocals with occasional drum breaks and sounds like a TV theme. Other interesting tracks include the instrumental Sea Hunt with its wistful keyboards and evocative syndrums and the uptempo Teen Planet with its hi-NRG beat/5(18).

  6. Patrick Cowley's music came on the dance scene shortly after the death of disco and breathed new life onto the dance floor. I have this album on vinyl and it is "beat mixed" from one song to the next fantastic!! The only song missing is his remix of Donna Summer's song "I Reviews:
